Schools and secondary schools can book visits, subject to availability, on Wednesday mornings from April to July

The insect migration and phylodiversity research group at the Botanical Institute of Barcelona (IBB, CSIC-CMCNB) is launching a new season of educational visits to its butterfly house, an experimental space dedicated to both research and science outreach.
Visits are aimed at schools and secondary schools and take place on Wednesday mornings from April to July. For more information or bookings, you can contact us at: infoibb@ibb.csic.es.
What can you find in the IBB butterfly house?
The butterfly house is a unique facility that allows visitors to observe butterflies at different stages of their development and learn about the research that studies their ecology, behaviour and evolution. Species such as the painted lady (Vanessa cardui), the red admiral (Vanessa atalanta) and the small white (Pieris rapae) can be found alongside their host plants and other plant species that support their development.
This space, promoted by the IBB’s Phylomigration Lab, is also part of citizen science projects such as Butterfly Migration, which studies butterfly migration patterns and encourages public participation in monitoring them.
