Communication Technician (full-time) for 1 year
The Botanical Institute of Barcelona (IBB) (http://www.ibb.csic.es) is a joint research institute between the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council) and the CMCNB (Consortium of the Natural Science Museum of Barcelona). Currently, the IBB studies plant diversity in all its aspects and is organized into four research groups: Plant Biodiversity and Evolution, Evolutionary Biology, Genome Organization and Plant Uses, Native and Alien Flora: Diversity, Collections and Conservation, and Entomology and Insect-Plant Interactions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
– Type of contract: Temporary staff through the CSIC job pool
– Working hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
– Expected start date: Between 1st of October and 1st of November
– Gross annual salary: €26,952.94
– Possibility of remote work

PROFILE
The IBB is looking for a highly motivated Communication Technician to support internal and external communication at the center for one year. Responsibilities will include scientific outreach, environmental education, and public relations, aiming to enhance the center’s visibility and positioning and to promote scientific culture. The ideal profile combines training in science or communication with skills in writing, graphic design, and multimedia content management.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Writing and publishing content on the website and social media
2. Institutional website design
3. Writing and distributing press releases
4. Designing printed and digital materials (posters, brochures, infographics)
5. Supporting the organization of scientific and outreach events and citizen science projects
6. Participating in science education activities
7. Creating content for digital communication campaigns
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Academic qualification: University degree (preferably in life sciences or communication)
Languages: Advanced level of Catalan and Spanish (spoken and written) and good level of English
Technical skills:
• Scientific writing and written communication
• Experience with web content management systems
WILL BE CONSIDERED AN ASSET
Additional training: Courses, master’s degrees or postgraduate studies in science communication, graphic design or audiovisual communication
Languages: Advanced level of spoken and written English
Professional experience: Experience in science communication or environmental education
Knowledge: Social media management (community management) and web design
