Joaquim Conca exhibition opens

On June 25, the exhibition Joaquim Conca. Botany Made Art was inaugurated at the exhibition hall of the Botanical Institute of Barcelona.

The opening event gathered 110 attendees and centered around a relaxed conversation between artist Joaquim Conca and researcher Alfonso Susanna. Together, they explored the connections between art and botany through the creation of the displayed works, revisiting the history of the IBB, sharing anecdotes, and revealing the creative process behind the drawings. The daffodil collection, previously exhibited in 2008, was highlighted for illustrating wild daffodil species preserved by the Institute.

There were also brief presentations by Jesús Gómez-Zurita, Director of the Botanical Institute of Barcelona; Carles Lalueza, Director of the Natural Sciences Museum of Barcelona; and IBB researcher Neus Nualart, curator of the exhibition, who emphasized the Institute’s commitment to working in the arts.

Guests then had the opportunity to visit the exhibition hall and purchase the exhibition catalog, which will be available at the ticket office of the Botanical Garden of Barcelona.

From now until September 21, Joaquim Conca. Botany Made Art can be visited with the general admission ticket to the Botanical Garden during the following hours:
